Well, this month of wonders ain’t over yet! I also found at Pyramid Air, a numbered Umarex/Colt SAA in weathered black with faux ivory grips From John Wayne’s last movie, The Shootist. No antiqued grips though, so I’ll have to do it myself. Number 333 of 600 produced. $30 off on sale and honey had a coupon for another $20 off. With silver .177…[Read more]

And then yesterday was a good day! I did some more cleaning in the man cave while a couple deliveries were made. Finally, at long last, my search is over for a Crosman model 166. The legendary Hahn Super BB Repeater! Built from 1958 to 1971, they are all wood-n-steel Co2-powered lever actions. With a 30-round BB magazine off the right side of the…[Read more]

I found a bunch of Hammers 3-7x20mm scopes on eBay, so I bought two. They are long and lean-looking like the scopes from the 40’s & 50’s. With a thin Plex reticle, they are quite retro looking. Their mounts wouldn’t fit the 2.5″ picatinny rails I used on the 760 Powermaster variant 1 (6/70, so no dovetail grooves yet). So I mounted them on the…[Read more]

Well, I have yet to receive the checkering cradle? They changed delivery dates 3 time so far? But, in this new episode of The lone Airgunner, I show you how to antique a pair of Umarex faux ivory grips.

I also ordered a checkering cradle from eBay yesterday. I have a set of checkering tools already and have practiced with them a couple times already. This is gonna be epic! I’ll change the Crosman model 70 (copied from Winchester’s base model, the Ranger) to the next higher model 70 Standard as seen below. I’ll also be using checkering tools that…[Read more]

Howdy y’all! Another bright, warm afternoon in funland. The Crosman model 70 stock I was supposed to get Tuesday the 9th finally got here from Boston by way of Nashua, NH last Tuesday! One week late. And the eBay seller paid for pony express! So we both got reamed on this one. Anyway, it had been given a coat of Tru-Oil or the like, and came out…[Read more]

Well I decided once more to change the name of my Youtube videos. It suits my current situation. This episode, I reshape an old Remington butt plate to fit my NOS Winchester/Daisy 1894 air rifle.

And now, for those that like to eat what they shoot (okay, get your mind outta the gutter!), A new episode of Outdoorsman’s Kitchen! This time, some of that wild piggy pork can be put to good use. Southwestern Porkchops!

I noticed that Microsoft has an all-new Win10 Edge browser out that’s definitely better than the old one! Also, this site’s quick link thumbnail shows up now! Wouldn’t work with the old one. Many improvements that harken back to cool features the old browsers had. Plus some new stuff I’m getting used to. It basically fixed some things that were…[Read more]

Here’s part two of the Hatsan 135 QE video. It’s the last one, as the owner had another tuner in mind. I’m not a tuner or gunsmith. Just a tinker with natural mechanical ability. It’s been sent off to him already, but here’s the final video.

I also went to straighlinecollectables.com & got the silver coiled snakes Clint Eastwood’s man-with-no-name character had on his Army percussion Colt. They’ll go on my faux ivory grips after I antique them. Coffee soak is typically used on ivory. But I may have to resort to Tru-Oil with a couple drops of Gunstock oil stain added. Here’s a pic of…[Read more]

Well, I added a caption to a pic I posted on Facebook March 3rd, MY group no less. And they banned me for 30 days after being back from a one week ban for less than 24 hours!!! Needless to say, I deleted my account. After some 10 years they’ve turned into a bunch of bullies! And the only thing a bully understands is a bigger bully. Time to send…[Read more]

Here’s another pic I took with the gun/gun belt shaded from the light coming in the window to get a more true-color pic of the grips.

My faux ivory grips by Umarex/Colt came in about 9:30am this morning from PA. At Least Fed-Ex is on schedule. They are more of a light tan color, like Bone/ivory that has a little age on it? The left side grip snaps on as usual. The right side medallion grips it comes with used two small Philips screws inside to hold it in place. These Ivory grips…[Read more]

Finally got some new shots of the Crosman model 70 with the Weaver V22-A, ” Dual X” scope. It sits on Weaver classic mid-rise mounts I got @ Walmart for $6.97. I got it on eBay, since it matches the one I bought new in the 70’s. This one’s just as clear too! And period correct, since the rifle is a first-year, ’73 or ’74. It was copied from the…[Read more]

I also found a couple more pony express tokens. And a tin of Daisy BB’s with a Red Rider label on it! And the old Daisy Boy sign. He died not too long ago.

I just got a Tipton carbon fiber cleaning rod with ball bearing handle delivered. Thought it wouldn’t scratch the barrel bore when in use? The long tube it came in will be good for storing barrels in.

and here a shot of the belt & holster together with the Winchester buckle. And a new display case , the seller of which I finally found on eBay. So my crammed full smaller one is cleaned out now.

I’ve also acquired a couple armloads of air rifles since Christmas too. Not to mention more cowboy stuff. So I’ll play catch up with some pics. Enjoy the ride folks! 1st pic is the rifles I’ve acquired in the last week or so. Right to left- Daisy 104 BB gun ’73. Winchester-branded Daisy 1894 with wood stocks, NOS ’05. Second Sears, Roebuck & Co…[Read more]
